When I found out I was pregnant for the second time… after all the initial excitement, it suddenly dawned on me that a second baby meant saying good bye to sleep for even longer…Oh how I longed for ‘a good night’s sleep.’
Ivy was 15 months old when I got a positive test result and she was still getting me up multiple times a night. I was exhausted, and totally and utterly useless most of the time because of it. (Of course, early pregnancy didn’t help either!) But it was clear that the thought of having a new-born and getting up with Ivy was a daunting one, that’s for sure.
Luckily, Ivy did eventually start to sleep better. At 18 months old, she started to finally sleep through and has *touch wood* pretty much slept through every night since. And I suddenly felt like a new women! I really didn’t want that to be taken away from me again.
How are we sleeping?
So Odette arrived, and as I mentioned in her update we are all sleeping pretty well. By no means do I mean that I am getting a full nights sleep, she is a new-born after all! But she is settling quickly after feeds and she is letting me put her down. One of the reasons for this is the amazing ‘Lena’.
Lena is our ‘myHummy’ bear and she is honestly saving my sanity! Because of Lena we are all sleeping well which means that I have the energy and emotional capacity to deal with busy, non stop days with a toddler and a new-born baby. We never tried ‘white and pink noise toys’ with Ivy…oh how I wish we had! The difference in how I feel this time around is huge, I didn’t ever realise it was possible to have a new-born and still feel rested. Hallelujah!
Odette settles quickly and calmly to the sound of the Humming Heart and it doesn’t matter where we are or what we’re doing, it is always with us. With Odette being my second child, there are often times when I can’t pick her up because I am with Ivy, cooking her tea, playing or just generally dealing with the usual toddler mayhem. This can cause me to feel all the mum guilt, not knowing how to attend to both children, splitting my time fairly, ensuring they both get the attention they need at the appropriate time. It’s a lovely feeling, knowing that should she become distressed at any time, particularly whilst I am pre-occupied with Ivy, I can switch on her myHummy bear to help her feel safe and comfortable, therefore reducing the mum guilt significantly, and giving me that little bit longer to focus on her big sister.
So what makes myHummy so dreamy?
All of the bears have a Humming Heart that emits 5 types of sound (Odette’s favourite is the heartbeat). The heart is easily controlled by just one button, but it can also be controlled by a very simple to use mobile app- where you can access all functions in just a few clicks. Using the app, you can adjust the volume and set the sound to fade out at a time interval that suits you, anything from 10 minutes to 12 hours of continuous sound. Built in also is an amazing Sleep Sensor, that reacts to baby’s cry, meaning it will automatically start playing sound again when your baby stirs.
The myHummy Bear also comes with a portable pouch that features a teething ring/cot attachment. This makes it easy and accessible for all situations, meaning your myHummy can go anywhere and everywhere with you. In the pushchair, car seat, travel cot etc.
And last of all, the bears are adorable with a contemporary design so they look great AND they are machine washable too- What more could you want? A discount code I hear you say! Well you are in luck…you can use the code ‘CHERRY15’ for 15% off myHummy products. But be quick because this code will only be valid for 48 hours.
